Marco Polo International, LLC is a leading global plastic resin distributor with sales in over 70 countries with a focus on both commodity (PE, PP, PS) and engineered (ABS, PC, POM, etc.) materials in addition to sustainable solutions including plant-based bioresins and recycled and repurposed materials. Our partnerships with global supply leaders, commitment to best-in-class customer service, and creative logistics solutions has led to our rapid growth since our founding in 1985. Since February 2019, Marco Polo International, LLC has been a part of the MGI International, LLC family of companies which has brought additional resources and synergies to the organization.

Nico Liuzzo founded Marco Polo International in 1985 after immigrating to the US from Italy. Drawing on his proud Italian heritage, he named the company after the explorer Marco Polo.

Nico Liuzzo founded Marco Polo International in 1985 after immigrating to the US from Italy. Drawing on his proud Italian heritage, he named the company after the explorer Marco Polo. Since the company’s inception, we have worked closely with our suppliers and customers to become one of the leading worldwide distributors of plastic resins. Throughout this tremendous growth, Marco Polo has never lost sight of the keys to our success: our exploratory spirit of always finding ways to improve and our strong relationships with our suppliers and customers.

As CEO, Marco is responsible for MGI’s long-term strategy and business planning including new ventures and sustainability initiatives, management of key supplier and customer relationships, and talent acquisition. Prior to the formation of MGI, during his 20+ year tenure as CEO and President of MGI’s Marco Polo International (“Marco Polo”) subsidiary, Marco was responsible for driving Marco Polo’s transformation from a small niche distributor to an industry leader with a large global salesforce, diverse product offerings and expansive geographic footprint with customers in over 70 countries. With over 25 years in the plastic resin distribution sector, Marco has unparalleled industry relationships and deep experience successfully navigating the business through a variety of market cycles. Under Marco’s leadership, MGI has continued its path of rapid growth and has also established itself as an industry leader in sustainable solutions. Marco attended Long Island University as well as the executive education program at MIT Sloan in blockchain technology.

Chief Executive Officer

Iwasaki is responsible for MGI International’s bright future.

Prior to joining MGI International, Iwasaki worked for the ITOCHU Group in the plastics industry for 29 years including 5 years in Shanghai, 12.5 years in Singapore, and 10.5 years in Tokyo for their international trading business.

He most recently served as a General Manager of the Chemical Project Development Team during Apr 2024 – Apr 2025.
